Alexander Zverev Wins Nitto ATP Finals Title, Defeats Casper Ruud in Turin
Zverev Claims Second Nitto ATP Finals Crown
Alexander Zverev captured his second Nitto ATP Finals title on Sunday, defeating Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match in Turin, Italy.
The German star, who also won the season-ending event in 2018, put on a dominant performance against the Norwegian.
Zverev's Impressive Form
Zverev was in impressive form throughout the tournament, winning all five of his round-robin matches and then defeating Andrey Rublev in the semifinals.
Against Ruud, Zverev broke serve twice in each set to secure the victory in straight sets.
Ruud's Strong Performance
Despite the loss, Ruud had a strong tournament, reaching the final after winning four of his five round-robin matches.
The Norwegian pushed Zverev in the final, but ultimately the German's experience and consistency proved too much.
Significance of the Victory
Zverev's victory marks the first time a German player has won the Nitto ATP Finals since Boris Becker in 1995.
It also cements Zverev's status as one of the top players in the world and a contender for Grand Slam titles in 2023.
