Americans Netminder Preston Named WHL Goaltender of the Week

Tri-City Americans goaltender Tomas Suchanek named WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 8, 2023

Suchanek went 2-0-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, .963 save percentage, and one shutout in two starts last week.

The 19-year-old Suchanek made 29 saves in a 3-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday, January 4, and then stopped all 22 shots he faced in a 4-0 shutout victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday, January 7.

Suchanek is now 15-9-1-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average, .918 save percentage, and three shutouts in 25 games played this season.

The Americans are now 20-14-3-0 and are tied for third place in the U.S. Division.

Suchanek is the second Americans goaltender to be named WHL Goaltender of the Week this season. Tyler Giannone was named the league's top goaltender for the week ending October 16, 2022.

The Americans will next play on Wednesday, January 11, when they host the Everett Silvertips at the Toyota Center.
