Pedestrian airlifted to hospital in a critical condition

A pedestrian has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a lorry in Ashbourne.

The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 6pm on the A515 Buxton Road, near to the Aldi supermarket.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Derbyshire Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Witness appeal

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the A515 Buxton Road, Ashbourne, at around 6pm on Saturday, March 4.

"A pedestrian was involved in a collision with a lorry and was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

"The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

"We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. If you have any information that could help our investigation, please contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1078-040323."
