Avi Loeb’s Statement on UAPs to the House Oversight and Accountability Committee
Chairman, Ranking Member, and Members of the Committee,
My name is Avi Loeb, and I am a professor of science at Harvard University. I am here today to speak about the need for a rigorous scientific investigation of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).
As you know, UAPs have been reported by military and civilian pilots, as well as by ordinary citizens, for decades. The number of sightings has increased in recent years, and the Pentagon has now officially acknowledged that these objects are real, but the nature of them is unknown.
There are a number of possible explanations for UAPs. They could be natural phenomena, such as weather balloons or meteors. They could also be foreign technology, either from another country or from an extraterrestrial civilization.
It is important to emphasize that we do not know what UAPs are. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that they are a threat to our national security.
For this reason, I believe that it is essential for the United States government to launch a comprehensive scientific investigation of UAPs. This investigation should be led by scientists and engineers, and it should be open and transparent.
The goal of this investigation should be to determine the nature of UAPs and to assess any potential threat they may pose. The results of this investigation should be made public, so that the American people can be informed about this important issue.
Thank you for your time.
