Brett Lee Blasts India for Complacency in New Zealand
Former pacer Brett Lee has slammed India for their lackluster approach in the New Zealand Test series, stating that the team went into the series with the mindset of "whitewashing the Kiwis."
Lee, who played 76 Tests for Australia, believes that India's complacency cost them the series, which they lost 2-0.
India lost both Tests by comfortable margins, and Lee feels that the team was not prepared for the challenge posed by the New Zealand bowlers.
“They went into the series thinking that they will just whitewash the Kiwis,” Lee said on his YouTube channel.
“They were not prepared for the challenge, and it showed in their performance. They were outplayed in all departments of the game."
Lee also criticized India's batting, which he said was too reliant on skipper Virat Kohli.
“India's batting is too dependent on Kohli,” Lee said.
“When he does not score runs, the team struggles. They need to find other players who can step up and take responsibility.”
India will now face England in a five-Test series, starting on August 4.
Lee believes that India will need to improve their performance significantly to compete with England.
“India will need to play much better if they want to win the series against England,” Lee said.
“They need to be more consistent in their batting and bowling, and they need to be prepared for a tough challenge.”
India’s tour of England will be a major test for the team, and it will be interesting to see if they can improve their performance and win the series.
