Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev Highlight Day 1 of ATP Finals
Team Europe have taken an early lead at the ATP Finals following the conclusion of day one action in Turin. It was Carlos Alcaraz who earned the first win of the tournament,before Andrey Rublev followed up to secure a second victory for the European side.
Alcaraz Battles Past Fritz in Turin Opener
It was a rematch of the US Open quarter-final, and just like in New York it was Carlos Alcaraz who proved too strong for Taylor Fritz. The 19-year-old Spaniard edged a tight first set on a tie-break, before breaking serve in the third game of the second set and going on to take it 6-3.
Rublev Downs Ruud to Continue Strong Form
Andrey Rublev continued his strong form in Turin with a straight-sets win over Casper Ruud in the second match of the day. The Russian, who won the Astana Open last week, broke Ruud's serve twice in each set to seal a 6-2 6-4 victory and give Team Europe a 2-0 lead.
