Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen Officially Suits Up
League's Top Rebounders Rank Allen Among the Best
Although Allen missed the first three games of the preseason due to health and safety protocols, he officially played his first game against the Atlanta Hawks. Playing for 20 minutes, Allen made his mark on the court with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Allen is projected to be one of the league's top rebounders this season. Last season, he was ranked 14th in the league, averaging 11 rebounds per game. Among Eastern Conference Centers, Allen was ranked third overall.
Cavs Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said of Allen, "He's a walking double-double. His activity level, his anticipation, his timing -- all of those things are really good."
Cavs Hope to Bounce Back from Preseason Struggles
After starting the preseason with three consecutive losses, the Cavs are hoping to turn things around. The team is dealing with a number of injuries, including Darius Garland, who is expected to miss the first few weeks of the regular season with an eye injury.
Despite the injuries, the Cavs are confident that they can be a competitive team this season. They have a young and talented roster, led by All-Star Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell was acquired in a trade with the Utah Jazz this offseason.
The Cavs will open the regular season on October 19th against the Toronto Raptors.
Allen Excited to Play with New Teammates
Allen is excited to be playing with his new teammates, especially Mitchell. He said, "He's a great player. He can score the ball, he can pass the ball, he can do it all."
Allen is also looking forward to playing with Evan Mobley, the Cavs' No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Mobley is a 7-foot center who is known for his defense and rebounding.
Allen said, "I think we can be a really good team. We have a lot of young talent, and we're all excited to play together."
