Congress to hold UFO hearing Wednesday
What to expect from the first UFO hearing in decades
The House Intelligence Committee will hold a public hearing on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), more commonly known as UFOs, on Wednesday, May 17. This is the first time Congress has held a public hearing on UFOs in decades.
The hearing will focus on the recent increase in UAP sightings by the U.S. military and other government agencies. In June 2021, the Director of National Intelligence released a report on UAPs that identified 144 sightings between 2004 and 2021. Of those sightings, the report said that 143 could not be identified.
The hearing will likely explore a number of questions, including:
- What is the nature of UAPs?
- Are UAPs a threat to national security?
- What is the government doing to investigate UAPs?
A number of experts are expected to testify at the hearing, including:
- Ronald Moultrie, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security
- Scott Bray, Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence
- Sue Gough, Director of the NationalUFO Reporting Center
The hearing is expected to be widely watched and could have a significant impact on the public's understanding of UFOs. It could also lead to increased funding for UAP research and development.
