CU Buffs Men’s Basketball Focuses on Teamwork Amid Early Wins
A Strong Start to the Season
The University of Colorado Boulder's men's basketball team is off to a strong start in the 2022-23 season. The team has won its first four games, including a victory over the No. 14 ranked Iowa State Cyclones.
The Buffs have been led by a balanced scoring attack, with four players averaging in double figures. Senior forward Tristan da Silva leads the team with 15.5 points per game, followed by junior guard J'Vonne Hadley (14.5 ppg), senior guard Keeshawn Barthelemy (12.5 ppg), and freshman forward Lawson Lovering (10.5 ppg).
Teamwork is Key
One of the keys to the Buffs' success this season has been their teamwork. The team has been playing unselfish basketball, with players willing to share the ball and make the extra pass. This has led to a lot of open shots and easy baskets.
"We're playing for each other," Barthelemy said. "We're not worried about who gets the credit. We just want to win."
Head coach Tad Boyle has been impressed with his team's ability to play together.
"I've been really happy with our team chemistry," Boyle said. "These guys are really starting to gel together."
Looking Ahead
The Buffs will face their toughest test of the season so far when they travel to No. 1 ranked Gonzaga on December 17th. The Bulldogs are the defending national champions and are one of the best teams in the country.
But the Buffs are confident that they can compete with anyone.
"We're not afraid of anyone," da Silva said. "We're going to go into every game with the same mindset: we're going to play hard, we're going to play together, and we're going to try to win."
