DENK accuses D66 of dividing Wilders' opponents

The party leader of DENK, Farid Azarkan, accuses D66 of 'playing opponents of Geert Wilders against each other'.

DENK believes that the left-wing party is trying to win back voters in the center and on the right by criticizing Wilders' opponents, such as DENK itself.

Azarkan emphasizes that DENK does not stand behind Wilders' statements. "But we do criticize the people who want to drown Wilders and deport him to Turkey," says Azarkan. "DENK and D66 can work together on many issues, but that is not possible with this type of rhetoric."

D66 says that it has no intention of criticizing other parties that oppose Wilders. "We only say that Wilders himself should be condemned for his statements, and that he cannot become prime minister," says D66 MP Sjoerd Sjoerdsma.

But DENK argues that D66 is targeting other anti-Wilders parties. "They say that we are Nazis, that's very serious," says Azarkan. "D66 is a neoliberal party, and they are trying to get voters back in the center and on the right."

The party leader of DENK believes that a coalition between D66 and the VVD is now possible because of this strategy. "They are trying to get rid of us," says Azarkan.

D66 denies the allegations of DENK. "We are not interested in cooperating with parties that do not condemn Wilders' statements," says Sjoerdsma. "DENK may not be Nazis, but they are certainly fellow travelers of Wilders."
