Donovan Mitchell dazzles as Cavaliers survive against Bulls to reach 12-0

Mitchell scores 32, Garland adds 26 as Cavs rally from 14 down

Donovan Mitchell scored 32 points, Darius Garland added 26 and the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from 14 down to beat the Chicago Bulls 118-114 on Wednesday night, extending their franchise-record start to 12-0.

Mitchell scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, including a driving layup with 1:06 left that gave Cleveland the lead for good at 115-114.

After Zach LaVine missed a jumper for Chicago, Garland hit a driving layup to make it 117-114 with 18.8 seconds left.

The Cavs are off to their best start in their 54-year history, and are one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the NBA along with the Boston Celtics.

Cavaliers withstand Bulls' rally

The Bulls led by 14 points in the second quarter and took a 64-57 lead into the break.

But the Cavaliers chipped away in the third quarter, and tied the game at 89-89 on a 3-pointer by Mitchell with 1:09 left in the period.

The Bulls regained the lead on a layup by LaVine, but Garland tied it again at 91-91 with a driving layup with 11.2 seconds left in the third.

The Cavaliers took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Mitchell with 10:27 left in the fourth quarter.

Mitchell leads the way

Mitchell has been the driving force behind the Cavaliers' hot start, averaging 31.0 points per game.

The All-Star guard has scored at least 20 points in every game this season, and has led the Cavaliers in scoring in 10 of their 12 games.

Garland has also been a key contributor, averaging 20.6 points and 7.6 assists per game.

The Cavaliers will look to extend their winning streak to 13 games when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
