FC St. Pauli and Eintracht Braunschweig, two fierce rivals in the 2. Bundesliga, played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in a preseason friendly at St. Pauli Park on Sunday.
The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 29,546, and the atmosphere was electric from the opening whistle.
St. Pauli took the lead in the 25th minute when Guido Burgstaller slotted home from close range after good work from Jakov Medic down the left flank.
Braunschweig equalized in the 55th minute through a stunning free-kick from Fabio Kaufmann.
Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither side could find a winning goal.
The draw leaves St. Pauli unbeaten in their preseason preparations, while Braunschweig has now drawn two and lost one of their three friendlies.
Both teams will be hoping to carry their good form into the new season, which begins on August 5.
