Ferrari considering Arthur Leclerc for FP1 outing

Charles Leclerc's younger brother could make his Formula 1 debut at the Canadian Grand Prix

Arthur Leclerc, the younger brother of Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, is in contention to make his Formula 1 debut in free practice at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old currently races in Formula 2 for DAMS and sits fourth in the championship standings after three rounds.

Leclerc has previously tested for Ferrari in Formula 1 machinery and is highly rated by the team.

It is understood that Ferrari is considering giving Leclerc a run in FP1 at the Canadian Grand Prix as part of its young driver programme.

If Leclerc does get the nod, he would become the first driver to make his Formula 1 debut in a Ferrari since Jules Bianchi in 2014.

Leclerc's potential debut would come at a time when Ferrari is struggling for form in Formula 1.

The team has failed to win a race so far this season and is currently third in the constructors' championship.

Giving Leclerc a run in FP1 would allow Ferrari to assess his potential and give him valuable experience in a Formula 1 car.

It would also be a boost for Leclerc's career and could help him to secure a full-time Formula 1 drive in the future.
