Galatasaray and VfL Wolfsburg played out a close match in the UEFA Women's Champions League on Wednesday night. The Turkish side took an early lead through a goal from Ebru Topcu, but the German champions hit back to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Ewa Pajor and Jill Roord.

Galatasaray pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but were unable to find a way past the Wolfsburg defense. The result leaves Wolfsburg top of Group D with six points from two games, while Galatasaray are bottom with no points.

Galatasaray manager Edwin van der Sar said: "I am disappointed with the result, but I am proud of my players. They played with a lot of heart and determination, and they created some good chances. We just need to be more clinical in front of goal."

Wolfsburg manager Stephan Lerch said: "I am very happy with the win. We knew that Galatasaray would be a tough opponent, but we showed great character to come back from behind and win the game. We are now in a strong position in the group and we will look to build on this in our next game."
