HBW Balingen-Weilstetten reaches the quarter-finals of the DHB Cup

Handball Bundesliga club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten has reached the quarter-finals of the DHB Cup. The team from Baden-Württemberg won 32:31 (14:14) at Bundesliga rivals Bietigheim Steelers on Tuesday evening.

Match winner Jannik Hausmann

Match winner for Balingen-Weilstetten was Jannik Hausmann, who scored the winning goal in the final seconds. The left winger was Balingen's top scorer with eight goals.

Tough fight in the Bietigheim Viadukt Hall

In front of 2,312 spectators in the Bietigheim Viadukt Hall, both teams fought an open exchange of blows from the start. After a balanced first half, Balingen-Weilstetten was able to pull away slightly in the second half.

Bietigheim Steelers catch up

However, the Bietigheim Steelers did not give up and managed to equalize in the final minutes. In the end, however, Jannik Hausmann's winning goal decided the game in favor of Balingen-Weilstetten.

The quarter-finals of the DHB Cup will take place on March 8th and 9th, 2023. The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on February 7th, 2023.
