Holstein Kiel's Marcel Rapp Appointed New Manager
Former Assistant Takes the Reins
Holstein Kiel have appointed Marcel Rapp as their new manager, following the departure of Ole Werner to Werder Bremen. Rapp, who has been Kiel's assistant manager since 2021, has signed a two-year contract with the club.
Skrzybski Returns to Kiel
In addition to the managerial change, Kiel have also announced the return of striker Steven Skrzybski. Skrzybski, who left Kiel in 2021 to join Union Berlin, has signed a three-year contract with the club.
Kiel Aiming for Bundesliga Promotion
With Rapp at the helm and Skrzybski back in the squad, Kiel will be hoping to challenge for promotion to the Bundesliga next season. The club finished in a disappointing 12th place last season, but they will be hoping to improve on that in the upcoming campaign.
Rapp's Managerial Philosophy
Rapp is known for his attacking style of play, and he will be hoping to implement that at Kiel. He is also a strong believer in youth development, and he will be looking to give young players a chance to shine in the first team.
Skrzybski's Goalscoring Prowess
Skrzybski is a proven goalscorer, and he will be hoping to add to his tally in a Kiel shirt. He has scored 33 goals in 77 appearances for the club, and he will be hoping to add to that tally next season.
Kiel's Transfer Activity
Kiel have been active in the transfer market this summer, and they have signed a number of players to bolster their squad. In addition to Skrzybski, they have also signed goalkeeper Tim Schreiber, defender Simon Lorenz, and midfielder Finn Porath.
Kiel's Pre-Season Schedule
Kiel will begin their pre-season preparations on July 4th, and they will play a number of friendlies in the lead-up to the new season. Their first competitive match will be against Viktoria Köln in the DFB-Pokal on July 30th.
