IceHogs Hockey Fights Cancer Night (11/15/24)
Rockford IceHogs host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer event on Nov. 15
The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when they host division-rival Grand Rapids Griffins at BMO Harris Bank Center at 7 p.m.
The IceHogs will wear special Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys during the game, which will be auctioned off to benefit the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center. The jerseys will be available for auction online beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and conclude at the end of the game on Nov. 15.
Fans can bid on the jerseys at DASH, a fundraising platform that processes donations and auctions to support charities. DASH is a trusted online auction platform used by teams and organizations around the league for charitable events like Hockey Fights Cancer.
In addition to the jersey auction, the IceHogs will have a variety of fundraising activities throughout the game, including a chuck-a-puck contest and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the fundraising activities will benefit the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center.
Hockey Fights Cancer: Background and History
The Hockey Fights Cancer initiative was established in 1998 by the National Hockey League (NHL) and the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) as a league-wide initiative to raise money and awareness for cancer research and patient care.
Each year, teams across the NHL hold special events and activities to support Hockey Fights Cancer, including jersey auctions, chuck-a-puck contests, and 50/50 raffles. The funds raised through these events are donated to local and national cancer organizations.
Since its inception, Hockey Fights Cancer has raised over $287 million for cancer research and patient care. The funds raised have helped support a variety of cancer-related initiatives, including research, treatment, and prevention programs.
