Blues battle back from a goal down to secure vital victory

Maika Hamano and Ashley Lawrence were on target as Chelsea came from behind to beat Celtic 2-1 in the Women's Champions League on Thursday.

The Scottish champions took a shock lead through Jacynta Galabadaarachchi in the first half, but Hamano equalised just before the break.

Lawrence then grabbed the winner in the second half to give Chelsea their first win in Group A.

Chelsea made the brighter start to the game and came close to taking the lead when Sam Kerr's header hit the crossbar.

However, it was Celtic who took the lead against the run of play when Galabadaarachchi finished well from close range.

Chelsea responded well to going behind and equalised just before the break when Hamano slotted home from close range.

The Blues continued to press for a winner in the second half and were rewarded when Lawrence fired home from the edge of the area.

Chelsea held on to secure a vital victory, which puts them second in Group A behind Real Madrid.
