Gophers' Mitchell Jr. Out, Garcia Questionable for Wednesday's Game

The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team will be without one of their key players when they take on North Texas on Wednesday night.

Senior forward Mike Mitchell Jr. will miss the game due to a left foot injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Mitchell Jr. is averaging 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season.

The status of sophomore forward Dawson Garcia is also up in the air for Wednesday's game.

Garcia is dealing with a right ankle injury and is listed as questionable.

Garcia is averaging 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season.

The absence of Mitchell Jr. and the potential absence of Garcia is a big blow to the Gophers.

The Gophers are already without senior guard Jamison Battle, who is out for the season with a foot injury.

The Gophers are 10-8 overall this season and 1-6 in the Big Ten.

North Texas is 8-10 overall this season and 2-5 in Conference USA.

The Mean Green are led by junior guard Tylor Perry, who is averaging 15.8 points per game.

North Texas is coming off a 73-63 win over Rice on Saturday.

The Gophers and Mean Green will tip off at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
