Motorized Wheelchair Driver Badly Injured After Collision With SUV
SUV Driver Uninjured, Motorized Wheelchair Severely Damaged
Witnesses Report Reckless Driving by Both Parties
Emmen - A motorized wheelchair driver has been seriously injured after a collision with an SUV in Emmen on Tuesday afternoon. The motorized wheelchair driver, a 72-year-old man from Emmen, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The SUV driver, a 24-year-old woman from Klazienaveen, was uninjured.
According to police, the collision occurred at around 3:45 p.m. on the kruising Stationsweg with Boermarkeweg. Witnesses reported that the SUV was driving recklessly and failed to yield to the motorized wheelchair at the intersection. The motorized wheelchair was severely damaged in the collision.
The police are investigating the cause of the collision. The SUV driver has been questioned by the police and a breathalyzer test was administered, however, results have not yet been released.
The motorized wheelchair driver is in serious condition in the hospital. The SUV driver was not injured.
