Netflix's upcoming science fiction series "The Three-Body Problem" has added two more cast members: Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldana. Gascón, known for her roles in "Elite" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," will play the role of physicist Dr. Elena Alves. Saldana, known for her roles in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avatar" franchises, will play the role of physicist Dr. Anne Chang.

The series is based on the Hugo Award-winning novel of the same name by Cixin Liu. The novel tells the story of physicist Ye Wenjie, who sends a message to an alien civilization, unwittingly inviting them to invade Earth. The series will follow Ye Wenjie's story, as well as the stories of other characters who are affected by the alien invasion.

The series is directed by Jacques Audiard, who won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film "Dheepan." Selena Gomez will also star in the series, playing the role of a character named Chris Jones.
