‘No water leaks’: PWN counters conspiracy theories

PWN has dismissed as a conspiracy theory the claim that the company is deliberately allowing water to leak into customers’ homes.

The water company was responding to a Facebook post in which a resident of Castricum alleged that rainwater had entered her home due to a leak in a water pipe that had been deliberately caused by PWN.

“This is not true,” a spokesperson for PWN told NH Nieuws. “We do not allow water to leak into homes. In fact, we are actively working to prevent leaks.”

The spokesperson said that the company had investigated the incident in Castricum and found no evidence of a leak. “The water that entered the home was rainwater that had come in through a hole in the roof,” the spokesperson said.

PWN said that it is aware of the conspiracy theory that the company is deliberately causing water leaks, but it dismissed the claim as “nonsense.”

“We are a responsible company that is committed to providing our customers with safe and clean water,” the spokesperson said. “We would never do anything that could put our customers at risk.”

The conspiracy theory about PWN has been circulating online for several years. In 2019, the company filed a lawsuit against a man who had spread the theory on social media.

PWN won the lawsuit, and the man was ordered to pay damages to the company.
