Paddy McGuinness to host Children In Need 2023
McGuinness will front the BBC's flagship charity appeal for the first time
The Top Gear star will take over from Sir Terry Wogan, who hosted the show for 35 years
Comedian and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness is to host the BBC's Children In Need appeal for the first time in 2023.
McGuinness, who is best known for his work on Top Gear and Take Me Out, will take over from Sir Terry Wogan, who hosted the show for 35 years until his death in 2016.
The BBC said McGuinness was "the perfect choice" to host the appeal, which raises money for children's charities across the UK.
"Paddy is a brilliant comedian and presenter, and he has a real passion for helping others," said Children In Need's executive producer, David Ramsden.
"I know he will bring his own unique brand of humor and warmth to the show, and I'm sure he will help us raise a record amount of money for children in need."
McGuinness said he was "honored" to be asked to host the appeal.
"Children In Need is a fantastic charity that does amazing work for children across the UK," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to being part of the team and helping to make a difference to the lives of so many young people."
Children In Need is the BBC's flagship charity appeal, and has raised over £1 billion for children's charities in the UK since it was first launched in 1980.
The appeal is broadcast live on BBC One every year, and features a variety of entertainment, including music, comedy, and special guests.
