Qantas flight makes emergency landing after engine failure
Sydney-bound plane returns to Perth after engine issue
Passengers safe after 'loud bang' and 'fireball'
A Qantas flight from Perth to Sydney was forced to make an emergency landing after an engine failure on Monday night.
The Boeing 737, with 104 passengers and six crew on board, landed safely at Perth Airport around 11pm after experiencing an engine problem shortly after takeoff.
Passengers reported hearing a "loud bang" and seeing a "fireball" coming from the engine before the plane turned around and returned to Perth.
There were no injuries reported and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Qantas said in a statement that the plane experienced an "engine issue" and that the "crew followed standard procedures and landed the aircraft safely".
The airline said it was "working to accommodate affected passengers" and that it would be "providing further updates as they become available".
