Ryan Rollins Injury: Downgraded to doubtful
Rollins suffers MCL Sprain
Ryan Rollins, the Denver Nuggets' young guard, has been downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Rollins suffered a left MCL sprain in Wednesday's loss to the Golden State Warriors and is considered day-to-day.In his absence, Bones Hyland is likely to start at point guard for the Nuggets. Hyland has been impressive in a reserve role this season, averaging 12.1 points and 3.6 assists per game. He will be tasked with running the offense and setting up his teammates in Rollins' absence.
The Nuggets are currently 3-5 this season and are in need of a win. They will be hoping that Rollins can return to action soon and help them turn things around.
What is an MCL Sprain?
The MCL, or medial collateral ligament, is a band of tissue that connects the thigh bone to the shin bone. It is one of the four major ligaments in the knee and helps to stabilize the joint.
An MCL sprain is a tear or stretch of this ligament. It can be caused by a direct blow to the knee or by twisting the knee in an awkward position. Symptoms of an MCL sprain include pain, swelling, and stiffness. Treatment for an MCL sprain typically involves rest, ice, and compression. In some cases, surgery may be necessary.
How long will Ryan Rollins be out?
The severity of an MCL sprain can vary, so it is difficult to say exactly how long Rollins will be out. However, most MCL sprains heal within 6-8 weeks.
The Nuggets will be hoping that Rollins can return to action sooner rather than later. He is a key part of their young core and they will need him if they want to make a playoff run this season.
