Simon Benoit, Pair of Leafs to Make Season Debuts Against Capitals
Leafs to Get a Few Reinforcements
After going through a week that can only be described as brutal, the Leafs will be getting a few reinforcements for their Tuesday night tilt with the Washington Capitals in D.C.
According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, forward Wayne Simmonds and defenseman Conor Timmins will be in the lineup along with goaltender Joseph Woll, who will get the start in goal.
Simmonds was activated off of LTIR on Tuesday, while Timmins and Woll have been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Keefe Confirms Sandin and Liljegren Won't Play
Keefe also confirmed during his pregame media availability that defensemen Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren will not play on Tuesday. Sandin is still dealing with the effects of a concussion that he suffered against the Colorado Avalanche in early November, while Liljegren is dealing with a groin injury.
The Leafs will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid when they take on the Capitals. They have lost their last two games by a combined score of 12-3.
Keefe Praises Woll
Keefe had nothing but praise for Woll following his 28-save performance in a 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
"I thought he was really good," Keefe said. "He made some big saves for us, especially in the first period when we were a little bit on our heels."
The Leafs will need Woll to be good once again on Tuesday if they want to get back on track.
