South Africa beat India by three wickets in the second T20I in Guwahati on Sunday to level the three-match series 1-1.
India, who won the toss and opted to bat, posted 149 for 5 in their 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan top-scoring with 36. South Africa reached their target with one ball to spare, with Heinrich Klaasen hitting the winning runs.
India made a solid start to their innings, with Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad putting on 47 for the first wicket. However, South Africa hit back with three quick wickets, including that of Kishan, to reduce India to 75 for 3.
Shreyas Iyer (28) and Rishabh Pant (29) then steadied the innings somewhat, but India were unable to accelerate in the death overs, managing just 44 runs from their last five overs.
In reply, South Africa lost both openers cheaply, but Klaasen (46) and Aiden Markram (33) put on 64 for the third wicket to put their side back in contention.
David Miller (20) and Tristan Stubbs (23) then finished the job, with Miller hitting the winning runs with a boundary off the penultimate ball of the innings.
The third and final T20I of the series will be played in Indore on Tuesday.
