Tri-City Americans Goaltender earns WHL Goaltender of the Week

A look at performance

The Western Hockey League (WHL) has named Tri-City Americans goaltender Tomas Suchanek as the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 16, 2022.

Suchanek, a 19-year-old from the Czech Republic, posted a 2-0-0-0 record with a 0.92 goals-against average (GAA) and a .950 save percentage (SV%) in two starts last week.

He made 26 saves in a 4-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday, October 12, and then stopped 24 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, October 15.

Suchanek has a 6-1-0-0 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .929 SV% in seven starts this season.

Strong performance

Suchanek's performance last week helped the Americans improve to 7-1-0-0 this season, which is the best record in the WHL.

He is one of the top goaltenders in the WHL and is a key reason for the Americans' success this season.
