German powerhouse VfL Wolfsburg secured a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League quarterfinals after a hard-fought 2-1 victory at AS Roma on Wednesday.

Wolfsburg dominated possession throughout the match but had to wait until the second half to break the deadlock. Ewa Pajor's close-range finish gave the visitors the lead in the 55th minute, and Kathrin-Julia Hendrich doubled the advantage just six minutes later.

Roma pulled one back through Annamaria Serturini's header in the 80th minute, but Wolfsburg held on to secure the win.

In a major upset, Turkish side Galatasaray S.K. stunned Arsenal 3-1 in Istanbul to advance to the quarterfinals.

Galatasaray took a shock lead in the 18th minute when Ebru Topçu converted a penalty. Arsenal equalized through Stina Blackstenius in the 35th minute, but Galatasaray regained the lead just before halftime through a stunning free-kick from Duygu Cengiz.

Topçu sealed the victory with her second goal in the 61st minute, sending Galatasaray to the quarterfinals for the first time in club history.
