Wolfsburg defeats Slavia Prague in extra time
VfL Wolfsburg progressed to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League on Thursday after defeating Slavia Prague 3-2 in extra time. The German side had won the first leg 2-0 in Prague, but Slavia Prague came back strongly in the second leg, taking the lead in the first half. Wolfsburg equalized in the second half, but Slavia Prague regained the lead in the 89th minute. Wolfsburg forced extra time with a goal in the 94th minute, and then won the match in the 112th minute with a goal from Fridolina Rolfö.
Galatasaray S.K. upsets Juventus
Galatasaray S.K. pulled off a major upset on Thursday by defeating Juventus 3-1 in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The Turkish side had lost the first leg 2-1 in Turin, but they came back strongly in the second leg, taking the lead in the first half. Juventus equalized in the second half, but Galatasaray S.K. regained the lead in the 65th minute and then added a third goal in the 89th minute. This is the first time Galatasaray S.K. has reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Quarterfinal matchups set
The draw for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League will be held on Friday. The eight remaining teams will be seeded, with the top four teams being placed in one pot and the bottom four teams being placed in the other pot. The teams will be drawn into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
