Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Defeats Seattle Pacific Falcons in Season Opener
Huskies Dominate from Start to Finish in 90-69 Victory
Seattle, WA - The Washington Huskies men's basketball team kicked off their season with a convincing 90-69 victory over the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Tuesday night at the Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies, led by head coach Mike Hopkins, controlled the game from the opening tip-off, building a double-digit lead in the first half and never looking back.
Senior guard Terrell Brown Jr. led the way for Washington, scoring a game-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range.
Sophomore forward Keion Brooks Jr. added 19 points and 9 rebounds, while junior guard PJ Fuller II chipped in with 15 points and 4 assists.
The Falcons, who are coached by Ryan Menn, were led by senior guard DeAngelo Stewart's 17 points. Junior forward Trey Wood added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Washington shot 49.1% from the field, including 38.5% from three-point range, while holding Seattle Pacific to 37.3% shooting and 28.6% from beyond the arc.
The Huskies also outrebounded the Falcons 43-25 and had a 22-10 advantage in assists.
With the victory, Washington improves to 1-0 on the season, while Seattle Pacific falls to 0-1.
The Huskies will be back in action on Friday, November 11th, when they host the South Dakota Coyotes at the Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, November 12th, when they host the Cal Poly Mustangs at the Brougham Pavilion.
