David Jenkins Jr. Scores 18 Points In Nevada Victory
The Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team survived a scare from the Weber State Wildcats in their season opener on Monday night, holding on for a 76-72 victory at Lawlor Events Center.
The Wolf Pack, who were picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West preseason poll, struggled out of the gate, falling behind by 12 points in the first half. But Nevada chipped away at the deficit and eventually took the lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game.
The Wildcats fought back and tied the game with just over two minutes remaining, but Nevada's David Jenkins Jr. hit a jumper to give the Wolf Pack the lead for good. Nevada made its free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
Jenkins led the Wolf Pack with 18 points, while Kenan Blackshear added 15 points and Will Baker had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Wolf Pack will be back in action on Friday night when they host the Cal Poly Mustangs at Lawlor Events Center.
