The CISSS des Îles remains committed to providing population of Laval and the surrounding areas quality health care
New specialized teams, technological upgrades and more
Founded in 2015, The CISSS des Îles is a health services network that serves the population of the greater Laval area, including the Saint-François Islands, the city of Laval and the municipalities of Sainte-Dorothée and Senneville.
Unlike in some other areas of the province, the CISSS des Îles provides both health and social services to the communities it serves. This approach is designed to ensure integration and better coordination of services, in order to better respond to the population's needs.
In recent years, the CISSS has made significant investments in its offering, with a wide range of measures aimed at improving accessibility, quality and efficiency of health care.
New specialized teams
In 2020, the CISSS announced the creation of new specialized teams in cardiology, respiratory function, endocrinology and nutrition.
These teams are composed of doctors, nurses and other health professionals who are specialized in these areas. They will work in collaboration with family doctors to provide specialized care to patients who need it.
Technological upgrades
The CISSS has also been investing in technological upgrades in recent years. In 2021, it launched a new electronic medical record (EMR) system.
This system allows health professionals to have access to a patient's medical information in a secure and efficient way. It also facilitates communication between different health care providers involved in a patient's care.
More accessible care
Improving accessibility of care is one of the CISSS des Îles' major priorities.
In 2022, the CISSS opened a new Intermediate Resources clinic (CRI) in Sainte-Dorothée. This clinic offers a range of services to people with physical or cognitive disabilities, as well as to their caregivers.
The CISSS has also increased the number of evening and weekend appointments available at its various clinics.
Commitment to improving quality of care
In 2023, The CISSS des Îles reinforced its commitment to improving the quality of care it offers.
The organization has implemented a new quality improvement program that aims to identify and reduce risks, as well as to improve patient outcomes.
The CISSS has also created a new patient relations service that is responsible for handling complaints and suggestions from patients and their families.
Looking to the future
The CISSS des Îles is committed to the development of new projects to continue to improve its health and social services offerings.
In the coming years, the CISSS plans to invest in the construction of a new hospital in the Laval area.
The CISSS is also planning to develop new innovative care models, such as telemedicine and virtual care.
